Nate Jacobs

Everyone has a dream of doing something. When does that dream become a goal? A mission? A reality?
As a young man Nate Jacobs never dreamed of founding a Black theater company. He wanted to be an artist. He came to Sarasota to teach art. But fate had another plan. He quickly found himself teaching theater to young people. That grew into an acting career for himself. And then a powerful vision came to him. And thus was born the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe.
It didn’t happen overnight. It took many years of perseverance, work, and convincing others of his mission. One of his earliest supporters was a famous television personality.
Today, The Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe is a center for nurturing young talent and showcasing original plays and reviews.
